Founded in 1988, Biby Associates’ primary purpose was “to help organizations – public and private – assess their threats and vulnerabilities, implement strategies to mitigate those risks, and develop a unified awareness and response to future emergencies.”
Back then, we focused mostly upon preparing for and responding to severe weather events, man-caused disruptions such as from an errant back-hoe operator, and isolated power outages.
In the early 1990s, we expanded our focus to include protocols for responding to localized terrorist attacks, such as an active shooter, bomber, and other malevolent perpetrators.
Beginning in late 2001, we again adapted our mission in response to the September 11th, 2001 al-Qaeda attacks. This time, our focus was placed more intensely upon helping protect America’s 18 critical infrastructures from large-scale, multiple-target terrorist events.
These infrastructures – which include food and agriculture, banking and finance, emergency services, energy, public health, and transportation – are considered critical because damaging or weakening them can dramatically and negatively impact America’s economy and function.
As a long-term and active supporter of the FBI’s InfraGard counter-terrorism initiative, we are proud to help organizations that serve such a vital role in sustaining our country’s health and well-being.
President & Founder
As founder and president of Biby Associates, LLC, Dan Biby has nearly 20 years of experience in emergency preparedness and response planning and training. He has helped clients in many industries, including banking, energy, government, public health, and telecommunications.
Dan is a noted author and lecturer, having spoken to professional groups throughout North America since the 1980’s. First published at age 17, he has since written four books and hundreds of trade articles. His latest book, Disaster Dictionary, is endorsed by experts in law enforcement, emergency management, public health, and business continuity.
An expert in terrorism and the corresponding response protocols, Dan is president of the FBI InfraGard Oklahoma Members Alliance, the 6th largest in the nation. His is also active in numerous other organizations, including Oklahoma Emergency Management Association, Association of Contingency Planners, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and Oklahoma City Citizens Response Team.
Business Continuity Architect
With 20 years of professional I.T. experience, Mr. Ward has worked in network design, installation, support, training, project management, network consulting, and software application implementation throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Before joining Biby Associates, Mr. Ward spent over 5 years as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a large Life Insurance company in Oklahoma. Managing an I.T. department with over 20 professionals, he and his team planned and prepared for over 50 million in revenue growth that occurred in less than 2 years while combining two large insurance offices and disparate systems. At the same time, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and other I.T. controls were implemented and successfully passed internal and external auditor’s strict testing standards.
William also has many years’ experience in Business Continuity starting from his consulting years. Later, while at the insurance company as CIO, he met and worked with Dan Biby to create and implement a complete business continuity program and alternate site. Currently, William serves as a Partner at Biby Associates.
